So back in September, I decided that I was failing Kindergarten because I couldn’t do the math/patterns homework without over thinking it.

Well the damn math book is back and man…I feel like “Go Directly To Jail. Do Not Pass Go. Do Not Collect $200.” LOL!

We are onto Geometry and shapes…oh joy….

Does a cone roll? Well in my opinion, yes it does. If you put a cone shape on it’s side, it will roll…but does a cone roll in the world of Kindergarten? I don’t know.

Really. I think this world of Kindergarten is out to get you. It is now my belief that when people are thinking of having children, they should not have to go to parenting classes. They should have to go to Kindergarten.

If they pass Kindergarten, they can have kids…

Me. I would have failed, so what does that tell ya??? LOL!

Irish Boy and I can not express how proud we are of The Boy. He has made such amazing progress in the 10 weeks that school has been in session!

His work with his wall words and reading has been phenomenal! I honestly thought that teaching him to read was going to be much more difficult than it has been! I attribute a lot of that to his teachers, Mrs. D and Mrs. H. And also to his hard work! He does struggle but we either work through it or let him take a little break so as to not frustrate him!

He received his first report card on Friday and did a great job! The only thing he needs to work on – and we knew this – is his conduct in class! And I have to say we have made great strides in the last few weeks!

Irish Boy made a deal with The Boy. For every “no strip” week – that means no getting in trouble – Irish Boy will go and have lunch on the next Monday! Today Irish Boy is having lunch with him for the 3rd week in a row. That means that The Boy has had 3+ straight school weeks of great behavior! The kid is on a roll and continues to impress us with good behavior!

The Boy gets a new set of vocabulary words every 9 weeks. It is our job to go over the words every night with him. He has the first set down! Yeah!

So tonight he tells me that he has the new words! (Deep breath from mom!)  I take the cards off the ring and flip them over. I like mixing them up to make sure that he is not just memorizing them in order…

And blow me away…

The ones that are turned sideways - that would be 4 out of 28 new words - are the only ones that he had real difficulty with! I can’t even say how proud I am of him! And he was so excited! YEAH!

I think I am getting the hang of this parenting thing…well maybe I was just lucky enough to give birth to a smart kid who was lucky enough to get a really great teacher!!  LOL!
