Mucky’s Experiment Night

I decided that tonight would be experiment night for Mucky’s.

OK I really didn’t just decide out of the blue but I got this new great book today, The Cookie Bible.

Looking through this gave me some great ideas! And as always I make the original recipe as it is listed in the book, then figure out what I want to do to tweak it and make it mine. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don’t!

The first thing I made were no-bake bars. They were very simple and it is the first time I have made anything no-bake! They came out pretty decent except that I used Old Fashioned rather then Quick oats b/c that is all I had in the house! I think that made a huge difference in consistency! Irish Boy loved these and now hates me :) One of the girls at work claims they taste like Reese’s PB Cups!

Then I went on to the Peanut Butter Bar thingies! I am not quite sure what I think of these. They aren’t really pretty but they seem to taste decent! Irish Boy thought they were too bland but the people at work seem to really like them!

They both need some changes and tweaking but I think these may make it onto the Mucky’s site!

OK back to the “real” job!

How to cut up a pineapple - the Nutty Mother way

Posted in Cooking, Irish Boy, Nutty Mother by Nutty Mother Tuesday April 29, 2008

It has already been established that I can’t cook - not even a frozen pizza. But I do know how to cut up a pineapple. However, there are a few obstacles I have to overcome.

Height of Nutty Mother (on a good day) - 5′ 3″

Height of Island - 3′ 1″
Height of Cutting Board on Island - 3″
Height of Pineapple - 8″
Total Height From Floor to Top of Pineapple - 4′

Honestly, with only 1′ 3″ above the pineapple, my leverage to cut into it was an issue! So what do I do?

What any good girl does! I found my highest pair of heels….

I don’t know if they actually gave me any extra leverage but just let me go on believing it please :) Plus it gave me the chance to giggle. And since we all know that Irish Boy doesn’t find me funny, someone has to!

This is very reminiscent of the days when #3 sister The Nurse would convince me to wear ski goggles while cutting onions so that our eyes wouldn’t hurt! Oh to have those pictures right now! I know someone has to have them.

One day I need to remember to tell you all about why my liver OD’d on Advil at a very young age! This would be thanks to my lovely sister The Nurse!

Anyway, off to eat my pineapple and cool whip!

And yes Irish Boy, that is the tape measure in the backgroud. Yes, I went out to the garage, around my car, opened the toolbox and took out the tape measure just to prove how short I am and how tall a pineapple is when on top of our island.

And no Irish Boy, I have not gone out to the garage, around my car, opened the toolbox and put the tape measure back. But I will in the next 2 hours before you get home :)

Irish Boy’s Redemption

Posted in Irish Boy, Nutty Mother by Nutty Mother Sunday April 27, 2008

If you recall from The Boy Tries to Save Irish Boy, I asked Irish Boy to bring me home some flowers and got… Nada. Zero. Zippo. Zilch.

Today as I am practicing being a “Golf Widow” I once again send some loverly text messages asking for things like chocolate chips.

And Candles.

And Flowers.

And Gum.

And Foot Rub Lotion for the Greatest Guy in the world to rub my feet with.

And lookee lookee what I got…

That would be a pineapple, strawberries, FREE Cool Whip, gum, foot lotion, flowers, Diet Mt. Dew and candles! Woooo weeeee!

Irish Boy has redeemed himself!

(oh and please ignore all of my crooked pictures on the wall! They give the room personality)
