Happy Birthday Uncle Gomer!

The other night I told QD that she had to eat dinner before she turned the TV on. Once the TV goes on she blocks out everything else. She even walks backwards to the bathroom so that she doesn’t miss anymore show than necessary!

So she says to me “You are mean just like my daddy!”

Now considering the source that doesn’t mean much but I figure she is gauging us on the same scale so it is nice to know that we are both being mean parents! I am OK with that!

I went to curriculum night last week for The Boy and learned something very interesting!

Despite the fact that The Boy learned plain old block lettering in his State Run Pre K program - now that he is in the G County School System we have found out that he must learn the D’Nealian writing style. Please note that I have no problem with this.

What I have a problem with is that when I brought this up to the Pre K teachers at his daycare, they had no idea that G County required this. Um hello?!?! My daycare is in the same County as my school. Therefore, one would think that the state would coordinate their Pre K program with the County’s curriculum!

Again, I have no problem with him learning this but why are we creating more stress for the kids and the teachers by not catering the Pre K program for each county to work with what the kids will be required to learn in Kindergarten!

So of course, I am waiting from a call back so that I do not run into the same problem in 2 years with QD!
